The Dine in the Sky and Marsa Malaz Kempinski The Pearl Doha are taking visitors to Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) 2015 to a new level of luxury experience.
Hosted by Qatar Airways (QA) this year, the “Dine in the Sky” is big hit with many guests who want to feel a relaxing ambience and savour the airline’s “five-star Business Class hospitality and menu offerings”.
The dishes, from mouth-watering appetisers to dessert, have been prepared by QA’s internationally renowned chefs Vineet Bhatia and Massimo Capra.
The main course caters to meat and seafood lovers, as well as vegetarians, who have the opportunity to interact with the waitresses and chefs on board the platform, which will be
elevated and suspended in mid-air once all the diners are strapped in.
“We seek to present the original Qatari hospitality and premium services offered on our flights to the festival’s visitors,” said QA Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker in a statement.
The platform restaurant can accommodate a total of 22 people who will be lifted up for a fine-dining experience as they watch Doha’s skyline from the Museum of Islamic Art premises. The Dine in the Sky has been attracting a large number of visitors since last year at QIFF.
Just beside the QA Cooking Theatre is Marsa Malaz Kempinski The Pearl Doha’s 400sqm restaurant, described as the biggest structure, complete with a full-fledged kitchen, at this year’s QIFF.
Jason Xuereb, food and beverage manager, told Gulf Times that their two-storey building can accommodate more than 155 guests: at least 75 persons on its rooftop and up to 85 in
its restaurant.
“We have the top floor where we are serving afternoon tea and the ground floor where we are serving traditional Arabic food,” he said.
While a number of selections at the park serve various kinds of food, he said no one has the view and seating capacity that Marsa Malaz Kempinski The Pearl Doha has at QIFF.
The luxury hotel is planning to open three more restaurants soon: an Italian restaurant based in Rome, a pan-Latin style Toro-Toro and contemporary Japanese restaurant Nozomi.
After QIFF, Xuereb said they would start to plan for the Ramadan offerings and also look to open its sixth floor after the Holy Month.
