The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, travelled to Doha on Wednesday, 2 August, with an agenda full of institutional meetings.
In the morning, Minister Alfano met with the CEO of the “Qatar Investment Authority” investment fund, Sheikh Abdallah Bin Mohammed Al Thani. Minister Alfano then met with the president of the Qatar Museums, Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, and visited the Museum of Islamic Art.
The visit continued with bilateral meetings with Qatar’s Defence Minister, Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, and with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
The minister’s agenda later envisaged a meeting with his counterpart, Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
At the end of the meeting, a joint press conference was held by the two foreign ministers at 1 p.m. at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha.
Early in the afternoon, Minister Alfano met with the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani.
Before flying back to Rome, Minister Alfano also met with the representatives of Italian companies operating in Qatar.
