Wimbledon reveals plans for new-look £70m No 1 court

The All England Club has released plans for the new-look No 1 Court at Wimbledon.

Work on the £70m reconstruction will begin after this year’s championships, and it will first be used in 2019.

Just like Centre Court, the new No 1 Court – designed by Sir Robert McAlpine, the company behind London’s Olympic Stadium – will have a retractable roof.

The court will be used in the 2017 championships, but without the roof. The final capacity will rise by 900, up to 12,400, and add a new two-level public plaza which will take the place of Court No 19.

The Cooling is provided by AERMEC Italy with 26 Chillers of total 7 MW and 12 AHUs to treat 50,000 cbm of air.
